Art Photographer

Born and raised in Dublin Ireland I moved to New York City in 1980. It was there my love of black and white photography began and grew. I relocated to Sydney Australia in 1996 and was fortunate to find a wonderful mentor in master printer Gordon Undy, director of Point Light Gallery. Under his guidance my creative vision cleared and my printing skills in the darkroom were refined. A major highlight in my creative path occurred by way of 2 workshops I took with  the legendary American photographer Ralph Gibson which resulted in the publication of my booklet Hide & Seek. Although now working in digital my background in the darkroom and the traditional printing method is the foundation for crafting my images today on the screen.

The film noir genre with its dramatic lighting effects and sense of mystery is the biggest influence on my work. I strive to create images that are both visually pleasing and mentally stimulating and hopefully they allow the viewer's imagination plenty of opportunity to roam.
